PHI Lighting insures quality by hand testing every bulb. The test
procedure which measures operating "arc tube" voltage is
the same test that the manufacturer uses to test new lamps.
Many utilities and contractors group-relamp in 4-5 year
cycles. This has proven effective keeping spot replacements
to a minimum, but does not use the average HPS bulb to its
end life. Because each HPS lamp ages at a different rate,
and because some spot replacement bulbs have been in only
a short time, many used HPS lamps have considerable life
left at the time they are changed.
PHI Lighting tests and grades these lamps making them available
at significant savings. |

Because HPS lamps maintain a high light output up to their end of
life, they are an ideal bulb to test and reuse.
Used lamps potentially have a better reliability than new
ones. This is because most used lamps have passed the "premature
failure" stage which occurs usually in the first 2 years.
High Pressure Sodium lamps are known to have lasted up to
12 years. Many of the lamps we test have been in four years
and less. |
